Competitive spirit! (English blog)

In the days of the olympics this topic feels very relevant and one that my englishspeaking friends can enjoy.
Last night, I practiced basketball with a team I recently joined. Different team - same personalities as any other.
*The player - just plays. Doesn't bitch, argue calls or get upset.
*The leader - wants to be in control of the team and be the "father" of the team.
*The competitor - show their competitive spirit more openly. Can go at the drop of a dime.

The funny thing is that players and leaders rarely get in an arguement, it's 99% of the time competitors. Probobly becuase the player doesn't argue back and the leader barks once, and the alpha-male order is restored. But when it's competitor vs competitor, there's no limit to where it can go. It's all instinct and reactoin. It's a measure of will and strenght. First verbally, then physically.
And as I said, things can change in a second. Best friends can become bitter enemies and all boundaries are shattered.
But, afterwards, just a pad on the back, a nod and everything is gone........DON'T YOU JUST LOVE COMPETING!!!?
I sure do.

But, this also tells us, maybe we as PEOPLE haven't evolved as much as we would like to think. Just because you can add 1+1 and ride a bike doesn't mean you are that far from our cousins in the trees. We still act on instinct more times than we would like to think.

And be honest, you didn't shake your head when you read Alpha-male and instinct earlier, right?

Instincts are there for a reason.
Survive and propagate!
i.e. go out, get a drink, grab a girl and let the good times roll!
